The surrogacy journey

FertilyLife’s goal is to allow future parents to have the most stress-free experience possible during the surrogacy process. A dedicated manager will accompany the couple at every stage of the journey to parenthood, offering comprehensive support both in terms of information and in bureaucratic, healthcare and legal aspects.

The couple have the opportunity to participate in the entire process, albeit at a distance. However, the couple must be in Cancún for the stage prior to the birth, after the birth and, finally, when it is time to take their baby home. The FertilyLife team of professionals are at the disposal of the future parents whenever they feel the need for a face-to-face meeting, either before or during the pregnancy and, of course, during the birth.

The stages in the
surrogacy process

1
The first stage is an informative conversation, free of charge and with no commitment from the couple, which can take place online or in person with the dedicated manager, chosen on the basis of their preferred language. At this stage the future parents are informed of all the procedures needed during the process, and they will be offered a contract to consider.
The future parents may decide to have the interview and undertake the tests at the Cancún clinic or to do everything remotely, sending the medical reports by email.
2
Once the couple's medical suitability has been ascertained, the next step is to sign the contract, either at the clinic or online.
3
The third stage is the start of the real clinical procedure, involving the preparation of the surrogate mother and the egg donor, where necessary. Where the future mother has her own eggs, the FertilyLife professionals coordinate the ovarian stimulation at the appropriate time.
4
The fourth stage is the collection of the semen, which can be provided fresh at the clinic, or frozen and shipped with a specialist carrier.
5
Stage five is the insemination process, carried out in the lab, and the transfer of blastocysts on the fifth day.
6
Two weeks later the pregnancy is confirmed via a Beta hCG test.
7
The next stage is the regular sending of ultrasound reports, appropriately translated, throughout the pregnancy. Alternatively, the couple may decide to attend the screenings in person, subject to agreement on dates.
8
Depending on the contract chosen, the couple may be granted legal attribution of the child by the court even prior to the birth. Alternatively, this will happen after the birth.
9
The ninth stage is the couple's arrival in Cancún shortly before the birth of their child. The family will be met at the airport every time they attend the clinic, and taken to their accommodation in an apartment or a hotel.
10
The tenth stage is the birth of the baby at a private hospital in Cancún.
11
Once the baby is born, it is registered under the names of the parents.
12
If the couple choose, they can obtain a Mexican passport for the child, and then apply for dual citizenship on returning to their own country. This option is recommended in some cases.
13
The journey ends with the couple's return home with their baby.
