How many times will I need to travel to Mexico?

It very much depends on the program you choose. In cases of IVF or egg donation, one trip is enough.

Where surrogacy is involved, the parents usually need to make two trips. The first is needed for the in vitro fertilisation cycle, and the second to take the baby home. Where genetic material is transported by specialist carrier, one trip may be sufficient. Further trips may be needed if more IVF cycles are required to obtain a pregnancy.

How are the surrogate mothers chosen?

We have an extensive database of surrogate mothers, selected in accordance with international standards and guidelines and ready to change a couple’s life forever. Each has at least one child of her own and excellent clinical data. The surrogate is usually chosen by our doctor, not by the parents. The FertilyLife professionals undertake to find the perfect surrogate mother to meet the parents’ needs.

How is the health of the surrogate mother monitored?

FertilyLife follows international guidelines in monitoring the health of surrogates. These recommend the following tests:

  • CBC/hb (complete blood count/haemoglobin)
  • Blood group
  • HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)
  • HbsAg (hepatitis B)
  • VDRL (syphilis)
  • HCV (hepatitis C)
  • FSH (CD2-4) (Follicle Stimulating Hormone), a test of ovarian reserve, measured on day 2-4 of menstruation
  • LH (CD2-4) (lutenising hormone) measured on day 2-4 of menstruation
  • TSH/T3/T4 (thyroid stimulating hormone/thyroid function test)
